The Process of Landscape Design

Depending on the aims of your project, your engagement of Clare James Landscape Design may involve one or more of three main stages.

Stage 1 – On-Site Consultation

During this consultation I do an inspection of the site with you, listen to your ideas and requirements, do a measure and gather needed information

If you require a straightforward horticultural consultation, or advice on exterior styling, for example, this may be the complete process for you.  I can provide landscape, materials and plant suggestions with guidance notes or plant lists. Survey for Landscape Design

Should your brief be to go forward to a full landscape design, we continue the process from here and continue to Stage 2 – Concept Design

An outcome of this meeting may be to book in a site survey to assess ground levels, slope and other topography

This meeting allows for up to 1.5 hours on site and up to 1 hour travel time and the cost is $400 inc GST

A fee proposal for the cost of the project is drawn up at this stage

Stage 2 – Concept Design

During the Concept Design phase a set of plans is produced, and we tailor this service to deliver the amount of detail your require

The plan presentation includes the ‘hard’ aspects of the landscape design and the ‘soft’ aspects of garden design, such as the planting plan

Stage 3 – Installation

With all detailed plans completed, the next step is installation of the landscaping features and the planting.

At this stage you may manage the Installation part of the process yourself, or you may wish to consider our Additional Services to assist you.

We can recommend reputable landscape companies that can install your design.
